Grand pianos can weigh up to 1000 pounds, so if you do not have professional movers to install the caster cups for you, how can you do it? It's actually relatively easy. To put your piano caster cups underneath your grand piano, get one or more people to crawl underneath the piano, next to one of the piano legs. They should be on their hands and knees. Place a couch cushion on the person's back (similar to a saddle on a horse), and then have them push up with them arms and legs. The correct method for the person to lift, is to push up against a cross-beam or other solid area with shoulder-blade area of the back (while it the crawl position) .
Wheel placement:
When setting the piano leg and piano caster into the caster cups, point the wheels of your piano slightly inwards, towards the center of the piano.
Note:
Never try lifting the piano simply by grabbing under the case and dead-lifting. This is a great way to mess up your back, (unless you are a professional body builder).
